2016 pictures is a gallery summarizing the year – taken in Lobau, Vienna, in Tuscany, Italy and in the southeast of Styria, Austria.

Here we go… this is the collection of 2016 pictures that didn’t make it into a separate gallery or project. There haven’t been any major photographic events in 2016, so there are unfortunately only a couple of pictures worth publishing.

Lobau is part of the Nationalpark Donauauen, it mostly relates to the floodplain in Vienna. Reason for the photographic journey was a local meetup of VTNÖ members, and we had a really great time together. The challenging part was getting up at around 4:00 in the morning, but I have to admit it did pay off. The sunrise was beautiful, especially because of the slowly lifting mist. As always, it was interesting to see the different interpretations of people looking at the same scene. The late morning and afternoon was dedicated to some photographic experimentation.

Tuscany is a location I probably don’t need to introduce any further. It is one of our personal vacation favorites, for many years already. This time we decided to stay closer to Siena, in Poggibonsi. Conveniently, San Gimignano is very close, also Florence is within reach. We spent the time touring through the Chianti area, but also continued with the exploration of the southeast of Siena, in direction Val D’Orcia and Lago Trasimeno. And last but not least I had to restock my nearly empty Carmignano shelf…

Last but not least we spent a beautiful weekend in the southeast of Styria, close to the Slovenian border. It was late in autumn, and the vineyards were extremely colorful. We visited previously unknown places, like the biggest bunch of grapes in the world. Sunday morning we got up early for some sunrise pictures – it was hard to get out of bed, but the results did pay off. The rest of the day I spent capturing the many colorful patterns and the warm autumn colors.
